Eric Weiner, a self proclaimed grump, delves into happiness research to discover the happiest places on Earth. Then he travels to these places to try to figure out if people really are happy there and if so why.
After traveling around the world he concludes that happiness is home. Of course it helps to have your health, friends and family.
I really enjoyed Mr. Weiner's exploration. I enjoy traveling. I enjoy being happy. While Eric traveled he dug into happiness research and tried to validate and understand the research by observing the practice. A few philosophical issues were explored too.
My conclusion is it is harder to achieve happiness if you are a self proclaimed grump. It is a bit easier for a self proclaimed optimist, like me, to be happy where ever I am. While I like to travel I also like to stay home.
This is a must read for anyone who wants to learn more about the pursuit and realization of happiness and you don't even have to travel the world, unless it makes you happy. ?
