Shark River by Randy Wayne White

An ex super secret SEAL type, Doc Ford, turned into an even more secret government assassin retires early then lives in on the coast of Florida harvesting marine plants and animals for research. He and a buddy get into an adventure that requires his training. Shark River is quick and fun reading. It is nice to get a feel for the real Florida that tourists miss. An entertaining read, especially if you have time to spare and want to relax, say, by reading a novel on a beach.
