O'Hara's Choice by Leon Uris

The last book of a 50 year writing career, O'Hara's Choice is a well written book. It is clearly the work of a master craftsman.

Uris carefully builds each character. The story progresses and he builds minor characters, they interact with the main ones, then are discarded. The picture of the beginning of the industrial era in America is fascinating. One also learns of how the Marine Corps was almost discarded as well. I do enjoy historical novels.

This book did seem a bit plodding at times to me. I put it down, but always came back to it and finally finished it. I can see how many, if not most, people would enjoy it. Try it, if you like it then read the rest of Uris' books.
